Last weekend as a 2nd honeymoon, Patrick and I found ourselves in a winter wonderland called Narnia. I mean, Deep Creek.
We drove out to Western Maryland. Our destination… a 2 person cabin. On our wedding day, I gave Patrick a weekend getaway as a wedding present. The cabin is 30 minutes from town, Walmart, and most stores. It was fantastic. Here’s a wonderful overview of our time away both in Video and Pictures!
This is our 2 person cabin. 3 small rooms: A bathroom, a kitchen, and a bedroom/livingroom with a fire place. It was so romantic, sweet, and “homey.” We can’t wait to go again. Here’s the view from our bed!
The Saturday we were there, it snowed… over a foot! It was incredible. We drove through it all too.. through a whiteout, past animals, and we passed many other beautiful and interesting sights. Here is a lumber yard… it looked awesome in the snow.
We continued our drive and found this incredible fence line. Character and Awesomeness.
On our drive out to town, we found the greatest candy store! It was awesome! We walked out with way too much candy.
Honi-Honi has a story. We were trying to figure out how to spend our Saturday night and came across 2 options.
1. Stone Idol… which was a Garrett County version of American Idol.
2. Honi-Honi’s 25th Birthday Party – A local bar in Oakland with Free Birthday Cake.
When we found out Stone Idol was an hour from our cabin, we opted for the Free Birthday Cake… let’s just say, we lasted all but 4 minutes. Packed out, didn’t see birthday cake, and the scene… not our taste. But it was hilarious and awesome. We drove 25 minutes just to get birthday cake, in a blizzard, but returned having had none. We love that we have the story to share and remember.
Moving on… here was our walk in Swallow Falls!
We took a winter walk each day we were there. It was fantastic. We played in the snow and spent hours… literally laughing, playing, throwing snowballs, and well… getting lost.
Our last day was spent snowboarding! One of our other favorite things to do together!
