Lucy & Daniel’s Fairhaven, Maryland Beach Engagement Session
When Lucy and Daniel started talking about where they wanted to do their engagement photos, they chose somewhere that already meant something to them: Lucy’s parents’ home on the water in Fairhaven. And we are always going to vote YES for a location with a story attached to it.
Instead of meeting at a traditional engagement-session location, we spent the evening wandering along the shoreline, walking barefoot down the sand, soaking up the gorgeous waterfront views, and eventually hopping on the family boat at a local marina. It was relaxed, personal, and honestly felt more like hanging out with friends than working.
We headed toward the beach and docks. Lucy wore the perfect white summer dress, Daniel kept things coastal and casual in blue and khaki, and together they looked like they belonged in a Maryland summer magazine. 😂
But beyond how good everything looked, we loved how natural these two were together. There was plenty of laughing, snuggling, kissing, walking through the water, and a few barefoot adventures along the way.
Fairhaven gave us such a beautiful mixture of scenery without ever having to leave the area. We had trees and greenery, a little beach, weathered docks, open water, boats, and that gorgeous late-summer light coming across the Chesapeake Bay.
And then came the boat. 😍 This was the part of the evening that really made the session feel like Lucy and Daniel.
We headed over to the marina and incorporated Lucy’s parents’ boat into their photos. She became captain. Between the rows of boats, the docks, and the sun dropping lower behind us, the entire evening started to feel cinematic.
We photographed them on the dock before heading out onto the water, and the sunset could not have timed itself better. As the sky softened into those beautiful pastel blues, pinks, and oranges, Lucy and Daniel curled up together at the front of the boat while the marina faded into the background.
These are the kinds of engagement sessions we love most because the photographs aren’t just pretty—they actually tell you something about the couple. We had to fly the drone too so scroll to the bottom for an epic shot!
Years from now, Lucy and Daniel won’t just look at these photographs and remember what they wore for their engagement session. They’ll remember this place, this boat, this season of life, and this evening together before they were married.
That’s the good stuff.
Once we came back in from the water, we finished the evening the way any great engagement session should end: with dinner together.
And truly, this is one of our favorite things about engagement sessions. Yes, we’re there to create beautiful photographs, but we’re also getting to know our couples before one of the biggest days of their lives. By the time the wedding arrives, we don’t want to feel like strangers showing up with cameras—we want our couples to feel like their friends just walked through the door.
Lucy and Daniel, we had SO much fun with you two. Thank you for inviting us into such a special place and trusting us with this season of your story. From barefoot walks on the dock to that incredible sunset boat ride, your Fairhaven engagement session was one for the books.
We cannot wait for the wedding!! 🤍
