We’re excited to share this wedding for a couple reasons. When we became wedding photographers and as I stalked other photographers I thought the world of, I noticed these Naval Academy weddings that I just thought were so beautiful! It quickly became a bucket list venue for us about 2 years ago.
When we met Sarah and Stephen, I swore that they wouldn’t hire us for the sheer reason that we couldn’t get childcare for Zeke and we had to bring him to our Starbucks meeting. We met with them, Zeke cried most the time, and I ended up facilitating the meeting so Patrick could walk around with a crying baby… oh and it was rainy and we were all in close quarters. Yikes.
When they asked us to be their wedding photographers, I was ecstatic. Not only were we doing 1 new venue, we were doing 2 new venues in 1 wedding. The USNA and South River Golf Club. How amazing.
These guys had an incredibly beautiful fall wedding. Their wedding day was the day after our wedding anniversary. This weekend has always been special to us and we were photographing two beautiful weddings in one weekend.
The day started in Sarah’s parents home in Annapolis where she got ready among friends and family. A first look with Annapolis and the Naval Academy surrounding them was awfully special as wedding party watched from the Trolley. It was super windy so we didn’t stay out there too long, and instead headed into the Rotondo area of the property and ventured to a few locations.
With such a small wedding party we were able to go multiple places, actually more places than we could have with a larger party. They dominated and we got our bride and groom so much variety!
If you’ve never been to the naval academy chapel, it’s stunning. Huge but stunning. The architecture and the organist were incredible and my personal favorite, the sword arch. All of Sarah and Stephens guests cheered as our newlyweds walked through the sword arch!
The reception was intimate. The evening opened with the Matron of Honor’s daughter giving the cutest prayer ever. “Say Grace,” Stephen whispered in her ear. “Grace” is what she literally said. And that was it. Cutest prayer ever to kick off the night! The band played, people mingled, danced, and partied even after we were finished photographing the day.
Sarah and Stephen, we loved your day. Thank you for allowing us to check a bucket list venue off and not being afraid to choose us since we had never shot your venues before. We can’t wait to see you guys again as Newlyweds post wedding!
