I’ve known Erin for 10 years which is crazy. She’s Patrick’s first cousin actually. I met Erin for the first time when I came to the Nolans 4th of July party when I started dating Patrick. Or maybe it was Christmas. I don’t actually remember. What I do remember though was that Patrick had beautiful cousins and they were single. What the… so over the years I got to know Erin and what a gem she is. It was at a wedding back in 2016 that Patrick and I were at the Chesapeake Bay beach club and about 10 minutes before ceremony was starting, guests were still coming in. In walks Erin and her boyfriend Chris. I had met Chris before but something this time stood out to me. We asked “wait, how are you guys here.” And Chris informed us that he was a cousin to our groom. Such small worlds! After that wedding, we’d see Chris and Erin at other family events and we knew something was brewing. I mean this is our world and we can see things progressing for a lot of our friends and family haha. When Erin and Chris got engaged we actually didn’t really react as we didn’t want to be the photographers like “hire us for your wedding!” We gave them space. But when Erin reached out, I was ecstatic! We were so honored they wanted us to shoot their wedding.
Their wedding was at the Big Chill Beach Club in Bethany Beach. I had always wanted to do a beach wedding so it was pretty special that it was these guys. We shot this wedding on only 5 hours of sleep after driving through the night from another wedding. The rain came in the morning but we were so relieved it left before ceremony started. We were thrilled to be witnesses to their wedding via our lenses. A few things I loved about ceremony was that the music was played by nephews and cousins, her brother Pat officiated, and everyone touched hands as a symbol of unity and supporting our couple. Erin’s mom, our Aunt Sue, who passed away was weaved in throughout the day. From her decor, to a locket which hung down Erin’s back “she’s got my back,” she was present. Dancing was amazing, and even Patrick and I got to our our cameras down and dance for a few songs before finishing the wedding. If you don’t know, I love to dance, and dance hard I do.
We stole our couple for a night shot as there was a harvest moon and sunset was too pretty to pass up.
Erin and Chris, what a day, what a wedding. Thank you for choosing us and trusting us and allowing us to be present both as a vendor and as family. It means the world to us. We love you guys and hope your gallery allows you to relive this day over and over again. Love you heaps, M+P
