Naomi & Andrew’s Spring Engagement Session at Brookside Gardens
There is something about Brookside Gardens in May that just feels like it was made for engagement photos. Everything is green, flowers are blooming, the evenings are getting longer, and there seems to be another beautiful little corner every few steps.
Add Naomi and Andrew into the mix, and this session was such a good one. 🤍
We met these two at Brookside Gardens for their engagement session and spent the evening walking around the property, talking about wedding plans, finding beautiful pockets of light, and—most importantly—getting them comfortable in front of our cameras before wedding day.
Spoiler alert: they did GREAT. One of our favorite things about photographing at Brookside Gardens is just how much variety you can get without having to drive anywhere.
We started with Naomi in the prettiest blue floral dress, which could not have been more perfect against all the spring greenery. We wandered around the ponds and tucked underneath the trees, finding reflections in the water and some seriously gorgeous evening light.
And can we talk about that ring on the blue spruce?! 😍 As we walked, Naomi and Andrew quickly settled into the session. There were lots of laughs, little kisses, dancing, and those in-between moments that usually end up being some of our favorites.
That’s one of the reasons we love engagement sessions so much. Most couples don’t spend their weekends professionally posing in front of cameras—and we don’t expect them to! An engagement session gives us the chance to figure out what feels natural for each couple long before the wedding day.
Halfway through the session, Naomi and Andrew changed outfits and we explored another part of the gardens. Their second look brought a completely different feel to the photographs—more relaxed and casual with jeans, sneakers, and jackets—and we LOVED it.
We found the garden paths, flowering vines, water features, and beautiful architecture throughout Brookside. As the sun started getting lower, that warm May light began pouring through the trees and gave us the prettiest glow.
But our favorite part wasn’t necessarily a specific location or photograph. Naomi has one of those smiles that immediately lights up a photograph, and Andrew clearly knows exactly how to make her laugh. 😂 There is an ease between them that came through again and again throughout their session.
Brookside Gardens continues to be one of our favorite Maryland locations for couples who want a classic, romantic engagement session with tons of variety.
You can go from manicured gardens to ponds, towering trees, stone pathways, flowers, bridges, and intimate little tucked-away spots all within one session. And in the spring? It is especially beautiful.
For Naomi and Andrew, it gave us the perfect backdrop for photographs that feel romantic without feeling overly formal—which fits these two so well. And now that we’ve officially gotten them through their engagement session, we are even MORE excited for the next time they’re in front of our cameras.
Naomi and Andrew, thank you for spending such a beautiful May evening wandering Brookside Gardens with us. We loved getting to know you two better, laughing our way around the gardens, and documenting this sweet season before you’re officially husband and wife.
Bring on the wedding!! 🤍
