Shannon & Robert are a super fun couple of ours. We are thrilled to be photographing their destination wedding in Sacremento, CA this coming October! We can’t wait! Their blog post is over due, but what a LOVELY time with had at the Grand Historic (Brides, take note!! This venue is beautiful!!). You guys did so great!
Patrick and I were at a bridal show when we met Connie. She wasn’t a bride, but a vendor. Connie and I hit it off and she began to tell us her story. Oh how I WISH you could have heard the beauty surrounding her vision for her wedding day. Duane and Connie incorporated beautiful elements into her wedding day. Both her mom and her grandmother passed within the last year and a half. Her mom passed first, then her grandmom. I’ll never forget when Connie shared with us that she was going to have a “different” wedding. Her two sons were to walk her down the aisle, and she would do a surprise bouquet presentation to her aunt… her mom’s identical sister. You should have seen Connie and Duane at their wedding. I’ve never seen so many smiles. These two danced as much as they could and smiled even more. Working with Connie and Duance was such an honor. These two have SO MANY FRIENDS and I think that will be very obvious once you see their guests and how much fun they had. They are loved by so many people!
We LOVE this wedding because it’s totally flavored with our city Baltimore! Their favors were crab mallets with Old Bay Spice jars. They chose the colors based on the wedding being in the evening at such a “colorful” venue, AVAM. The checkerboard dance floor and the metal truss overhead were awesome additions to their wedding day. Very unique to their ceremony… they became husband and wife on a staircase in the center of the venue.
Miriam and Michael are the cutest. We spent time with this couple at the Clyburn Arboretum and got to see them interact for the first time behind the camera. They were such naturals for their first time and it is so evident that Miriam’s heart is held sweetly by Michael. Watching them laugh, watching them be cute and smile made our time with them so enjoyable. We hardly had to give them directives they did so well!
Clark and Casey met in SAT class at their high school, Archbishop Spalding, in the summer of 2006. Little did Casey know the funny kid in the bright orange hat would turn out to be the love of my life! Their first date was to Downtown Annapolis that summer, and since then they have had many, many more in that beautiful location! It will forever be a special place for them. After high school they spent their college years on opposite sides of Pennsylvania, Clark at St. Vincent College, and Casey at York College of Pennsylvania. They discovered that distance truly makes the heart grow fonder, and their love only continued to grow deeper. College came and went and the day finally came that they were both back in Maryland for good! Then, on October 29th, 2014, Clark popped the question, and of course Casey said yes! As best friends they are thrilled to be spending life together… November can’t come soon enough!
I was asked earlier this year, “Do you ever second shoot weddings?”
My response, “I’m not sure, I have never second shot a wedding before.”
The response is always the same: “WHAT!!? How do you book 30 weddings in a year and you’ve never second shot?” Well, I never have, until a few weeks ago.
Today I’m sharing a little bit about my experience second shooting for the first time.
Steph and Brad met through mutual friends. These two absolutely love sports… especially the Orioles (I mean who doesn’t love our Baltimore Baseball team!?)… They bonded over their love of sports and quickly became inseparable. These guys live near us in Ellicott City and love being outdoors, watching sports, and relaxing with friends. Steph and Brad wanted their engagement pics at Centennial Lake, where Brad proposed to Steph while on a picnic. They are getting married at Turf Valley next year and we are thrilled to be alongside them as they throw the biggest party of their lives!
When I graduated from college in 2009, my first job was teaching Kindergarten at the McDonogh School in Owings Mills. I spent two years there, surrounded by amazing people, students, and families. As a Bryn Mawr grad who spent years on the Gilman School campus (I grew up living on campus) with brothers who attended Gilman, McDonogh was the arch enemy. But ever since I taught at McDonogh, my heart for that school has grown so big that I think I might love McDonogh as much as I love Gilman.
I’ll never forget the inquiry I got from Stephanie and Tim for the first time they reached out to us. When the question “How did you find us?” came up, Stephanie said “We just stumbled upon you!”
This couple is the kind of couple we hope for, pray for, and get excited to work with. Not just because they “stumbled upon us” but also because they are fun, adventurous, sweet, light hearted, and when you’re with them, you feel like you’ve been friends for years.
