I’ll never forget this sweet couple of ours. I walked into Starbucks, ready for a normal meeting, and I see this non-millennial couple sitting on the couches, signing and smiling to each other. I smiled, got a table and waited. Little did I know that this same couple was a bride and groom to be waiting for me. We locked eyes, communicated who we were, and with that, sat at the table. That day I was challenged to not talk, but to show and share, and using technology get to know a couple that would soon become a Radiant Bride + Groom.
THIS POST IS SO SPECIAL TO US!! Becky is my “little sister” who is all grown up and an amazing woman. I’m so proud to call her my sister. Becky has been living in Australia the last three years for school and while there met an incredible man named Michael, a Samoan who officially became our brother-in-law in January.
Becky and Michael had a super fun Stateside reception to bring together family and friends and celebrate their marriage! They got married on the water in Melbourne, and their stateside reception was held at the same location Patrick and I did only ours was 3.5 years ago! We got to be both bridal party and photographers (for just part of the day) and dance alongside Becky and Michael. You’ve gotta check out the photobooth pictures too to see my crazy family. My personal favorite… the donut wall. I mean, donuts for days!!
I met Kaitlin shortly after her sister Megan hired us for her October 2017 wedding. You can view Megan and Charles’ wedding here! Kaitlin and Scott hired us to photograph their holiday pictures and later asked us to photograph their wedding.
Most folks don’t know this, but for every venue we photograph at, we take site visits. Last fall, I was out at Belmont Manor doing a walk through for a client, and ran into our “friends” Lexi, owner of Events by Lexi, a wedding planner in Baltimore. Lexi happened to be there showing her client the venue. I met Kimmie and Shawn that day, not realizing that soon they’d be asking us to be their wedding photographers! We were honored when they asked us!
When your best friend has a 1 year old (almost) and asks you to do a cake smash, you do it. Not because you feel obligated, because you love that little girl to cake pieces! We had literally 10 minutes before a storm blew in, and Ella took her sweet time… not sure if it was “OK” to get so messy and eat the whole thing by herself!! Her sweet little eyes, smiles, and of course, her desire to share the whole time. Oh, and then she decides to climb you. Happy First Birthday Ella! Can’t believe you’re ONE!!
Arriving at their wedding and seeing all the details and hearing all the stories shared in the speeches, Patrick and I knew Jenn was in amazing hands. These two LOVE the Lord, LOVE each other, and LOVE the great outdoors. I mean, you gotta love the outdoors and adventures to spend your honeymoon in Colorado hiking, camping, and exploring. How amazing! It was fitting considering Phil proposed on top of Pole’s Steeple in PA in January!
Billy and Claire both attended Virginia Tech and had over 100 mutual friends but had never met. It was outside of the college life that Claire and Billy first met. Claire had moved to DC, reconnected with friends, and met Billy at one of the hangouts. Things evolved as they became dates for each other to alumni events and parties, and the rest is history.
