This wedding for me is beyond special to share with you. Katie and I have been friends for over 10 years! She was in my wedding 7 years ago and is a treasure and a gem. She’s one of those friends that no matter what happens in life, how many months (or years for that matter) go by, that when you get on the phone, you laugh just as hard as you did when you saw each other day to day.
When Katie not just told me she was engaged, invited us to her wedding, asked us to shoot it AND that it was going to be in Mexico, Patrick and I didn’t hesitate. Yes, Mexico is amazing, but guys, this was our first legit destination wedding outside the US so it was a pretty big deal for us. It was a bucket list item to be totally honest and we are so happy that we got to be alongside them. I jokingly told Katie that if she had a wedding party, I would have been in it. So I made us shirts to wear prior to the wedding and enjoyed every minute being able to be there, support her, help work out logistics, etc.
Katie and Bryce had a gorgeous wedding at the Royalton Riviera Resort in Cancun Mexico. It was a gorgeous day (umm hello, it’s Mexico) and it was the perfect temperature, lighting, etc.
These two had such a fun day! They shared a really sweet first look followed by a sweet mother and sister reveal for Bryce. Katie and Bryce wrote their own vows, invited Jesus to be in the center of their ceremony, and even added a few of Katie’s dads ashes to the ocean alongside her sisters and mom. It was very moving. I’m pretty sure I cried twice… 1) because seeing my friend Katie who waited a very long time find contentment and joy and fun with Bryce and 2) I got to see God’s hand outwork and come to fulfillment in my friends life.
You see, Katie and I spent hours of our life together, dreaming, praying, and believing that God would bring us amazing husbands. And in January of this year, I saw that fulfilled for my friend, and she saw that fulfilled in my life in 2013.
Bryce, you’re a great man, not just good. You’re the best for Katie, you will allow her to soar and that means the world to me. Just don’t let her hit an Elk again or get lost in any foreign cities haha.
Katie and Bryce, we love you. We think you’re amazing and we can’t wait to come see you in Colorado, go snowboarding, go snowmobiling, and Katie, you’ll have to teach me some more yoga moves up in the snow, or dress up again like DC comic people and go to the movies haha.
Love you so much, wish you guys the absolutely happiest and can’t wait to see you again!
