The Annual McDade Sugarfest (aka The 4th of July)

When we aren’t photographing weddings, events, and families, I’m with the people I love.

I married into a MASSIVE family… and when I say massive, I mean there are 125+ people at the 4th of July. They take this holiday and Christmas really serious… like… you don’t miss the 4th of July OR Christmas!!

This 4th of July Patrick and I ventured out to our Aunt Terrie and Uncle John’s home in Catonsville, walking distance to the parade… and MAN… what a blast we had.

We named this festivity… the Annual McDade Sugarfest. You will see why!

I have to say, after looking through these pictures, we all as Americas should be wearing our stars and stripes just a proud throughout the week, and not just on one day of the year. There is definitely an ideology that the American Flag on any other day on a human being, car, truck, trailer, etc can be viewed as “Redneck” or “too Patriotic”. I’ve decided, neither are true. We must reshape our thinking for what is “cool” and “trendy.” I’m now on the hunt for a faded t-shirt with American flag design that I can rock any day of the week I want.

I am proud to be an American, and my hope is that the world we live in here in the United States, does not confine stars and stripes and the American flag to just 1 day of the year.

Thank you to all those who serve and have served… thank you for standing in the gap for us. It’s not just their “life” they give… they are willing to give up family, children, and other earthly things to keep us safe and fulfill what they deem as valuable: freedom. Thank you.
