Erik & Lauren’s Engagement Session in Ellicott City & Centennial Park
Some engagement sessions just feel effortless.
From the moment we met up with Erik and Lauren, it felt less like a photoshoot and more like spending an evening with two people who genuinely enjoy being together. There was no rushing, no forced poses, and no pressure to perform for the camera—just lots of laughter, quiet moments, and the kind of connection that makes our job easy.
We began their session in historic Ellicott City, wandering through some of the charming walkways and scenic corners that make this town one of our favorite engagement session locations in Maryland. With its blend of historic architecture, tree-lined paths, and small-town charm, Ellicott City offers endless opportunities for romantic portraits that feel timeless and authentic.
Lauren wore a beautiful cream sweater dress paired with classic brown boots, while Erik kept things timeless with a navy blazer and khakis. Their outfits complemented the soft spring colors perfectly and photographed beautifully against both the urban and natural backdrops throughout the evening.
One of our favorite parts of the session was that their adorable dog joined us for several photos. As any dog owner knows, pets are family too, and we always love incorporating them into engagement sessions whenever possible. Some of our favorite images from the evening feature the three of them together—capturing this season of life exactly as it is.
As the sun began to lower, we headed over to Centennial Park, one of Howard County’s most beloved outdoor spaces. The park surrounds a beautiful 54-acre lake and offers miles of walking trails, wooded pathways, and stunning waterfront views that make it a favorite location for portraits year-round.
The golden evening light filtering through the trees created the dreamiest backdrop as Erik and Lauren walked hand-in-hand along the trails. We stopped along the lake’s rocky shoreline where the still water reflected the surrounding greenery, creating a peaceful setting that felt completely removed from the bustle of everyday life.
There is something special about photographing couples in places where they can simply slow down and be together. The quiet moments often become the most meaningful ones—the way Lauren naturally rested her hand on Erik’s chest, the way they laughed between poses, and the way they looked at each other when they thought no one was paying attention.
Those are the moments that tell the real story.
As photographers, engagement sessions are about so much more than creating beautiful images. They allow us to get to know our couples before the wedding day, learn how they interact together, and help them feel comfortable in front of our cameras long before they walk down the aisle.
After spending the evening with Erik and Lauren, we left even more excited for their wedding day (whenever it will be, stop asking them 😉).
If their engagement session is any indication, their marriage is going to be filled with joy, friendship, and plenty of laughter.
Erik and Lauren, thank you for trusting us to capture this season of your story. We can’t wait to celebrate alongside you soon!
