It’s not everyday that you get to photograph a couple that actually gets married on a glacier AND a bride who is a roller derby girl! No, we didn’t go to Alaska for their elopement, BUT we did get to be part of their love story and photograph their Maryland reception with family and friends.
Carrie and Sean have a travel bug. It’s what they do. They travel, explore. I don’t know many brides that would put on a wedding dress, snow boots, a white parka, hop in a helicopter and fly up to a glacier where her and her groom would say I do. I mean, seriously… how amazing does that sound!
Carrie and Sean were already married when we photographed their reception at the Historic Oakland in Columbia, but we treated no different because it was still just as special. Carrie got ready at her parents house, where her dad would see her for the first time in her wedding dress (that even has glacier dust on the hem). Her siblings surrounded her as they got her ready to see Sean for a first look at the Sheraton Columbia pre-reception.
Carrie is a roller derby gal which is pretty cool if you don’t know what that is (cue to go google it). Carrie even wanted to incorporated her skates into the pics so we did!
The reception was Alaska and Northern Lights themed. Purples, Greens, and Blues complimented the yellow walls at the beautiful Historic Oakland. My personal favorite was the cake with their cat topper and the favors were glacier cookies. The room was full of pictures from their Northern Lights engagement and their Alaskan Glacier elopement. Oh… did I mention that their wedding bands are METEORITES!? I know… awesome.
Carrie and Sean, we wish you guys the best! Enjoy your first Christmas as husband and wife!
