If you’re a photographer, it’s your off season. That doesn’t mean you’re not working, shooting, or catching up from your 2021 year. Today I’m sharing a handful of thing that you should be doing to bring life back to yourself, your business and to get ready for the 2022 year ahead!

Rest, Breathe, and Sleep

Don’t feel guilty, you’ve busted your butt all year to grow, to learn, to show up. Take some time and sleep in. If you have kids, nap when they nap. Go to bed early. You need to recharge and you don’t want to go into wedding season exhausted!

Update Your Stuff (aka your portfolio)

Google Yourself. See what the world sees when they are looking for you. Updated your headshots. Spruce up your website, your email templates, your pricing sheets. It’s prime engagement season! Don’t miss out on all the goodness that comes before the season kicks up a notch. Last week, we did a small refresh on our site. And a simple tool to use, Canva.com. Check them out, you can use that so easily to make things without it taking HOURSSSS.

Strategize the Year

Stop. Map out your year. Without vision, businesses are stagnant. Don’t be that company that operates always behind or always putting out fires. Be anticapatory, plan campaigns, brain storm with your favorite vendors and do something you’ve always wanted to do. Engagement Session is here, be promoting giveaways, engagement session incentives, etc. This month I’ll be sharing how we strategize the year using some hands on tools including lists and giant post it notes segmenting the year by quarter, as well as to do lists!

Do Something for Yourself

Make a list of some things you’d like to do. Whether it’s visiting some family or friends you haven’t seen, snowboarding, cleaning out a closet, going to get a massage, building something, throwing things out. Whatever! My goals and the things that I’m doing for myself including toy purging excess toys, donating clothes I don’t wear, riding my Peloton, and busting out some powertools and learning them!

That’s it! I’d love to hear what one of your favorite takeaways was from this post. Leave a comment below and let me know! Next week we are sharing about the wedding BOOM and then following that is all about Strategizing the Year!
