We kicked off wedding season in Early March with a beautiful state-side wedding celebrating the marriage of Sai Rashmika & her groom, Venkat Sunil. We couldn’t be more excited to be apart of such a sweet celebration, with tons of kids, lots of dancing, and color galore!!
I asked Mika to share her story because it’s one of unexpected beauty and cute humor too.

“Our [story starts as] an arranged marriage but we fell in love. Our families met online and later found common connections. Our first date was a funny story actually. He is actually a punctual person but his flight got delayed the day we were supposed to meet though (He was flying to Texas to see me as i was studying in Texas then). He came prepared with flowers and chocolates and good manners to woo me but as soon as he came I did not give him a chance to even say hi and hopped into his car and the first thing I said was “let’s eat am super hungry” ( I had no breakfast and that is my excuse) , and I did not say anything else till I was done eating and he did not say anything either. I later got to talk to him but he says he fell for me for the forthright way i was with him in the first hour and how honest I was, plus he said I was cute when I was hungry LOL.
Well I finally got the flowers and chocolates but it took some time for me to fall for him. His sweet ways, dreams of flying and charming attitude finally won me over and we got engaged soon after on August 6th, 2014 and after 6 months tied the knot and the rest as you say is history.”
This wedding is close to my heart, because of my personal experience living in India while I was in college. The people of India, and Hyderabad, a city in South India, is where I believe some of the sweetest folks on the planet come from. Sunil and Mika had TONS of family there, that were from Hyderabad, India originally, so I busted out my Telegu and tried to speak with some of them.
Let’s just say I could only remember three phrases. Hi, my name is Maggie, and I only speak a little bit of Telegu. It’s great to meet you.” Yup, that’s all that came back to me. Ugh. BUT… let’s stop talking about me! This wedding was a state-side reception, so there was no formal ceremony. This was a sweet reception where friends and family came with flowers, cards, gifts, and to share in the celebration of their marriage (basically a big party!).
Neelima and Mika, thanks so much for hiring us to photograph your event. Our time with you was so so sweet, and we look forward to seeing you all in the future! Until then, here’s to reminiscing a beautiful couple and a beautiful reception! Cheers!
