I’m not really sure how many years it’s been since I’ve known this sweet family, but it’s been a long time. I remember moving home after college in 2009 and I had just been hired to work full-time at my first “big girl” job as an Assistant in the Kindergarten program at the McDonogh School. I was living at home with my parents on the Gilman School property and I nannied time to time for a few different families. The Headmaster at Gilman at that time was John Schmick. His son John and daughter-in-law Kate had this little boy named Johnny. If I remember right, Johnny was about 2 years old, maybe younger. Now before I write anymore, Johnny is probably one of the best kids I’ve ever babysat for or nannied. He is so well behaved and just down sweet. This kid is amazing and you know if he likes you within the first couple minutes of being with him. Every time I’ve seen Johnny since I stopped babysitting for them, he remembers who I am and I get big leg hugs (you know the ones when their height allows them to only hug your knee or thigh)…
Anyway, Kate reached out to get some family pics done before the holidays and I still can’t believe they have another little one, a little girl named Anne Miller. I absolutely loved seeing this amazing family and catching up with them. Not all family shoots go according to plan, and this day was chilly and you could tell, little one wasn’t too happy about it.
Kate and John, it’s always sweet seeing you guys and watching Johnny grow up has been so much fun. I feel like a distant aunt! Johnny loves so big and I’m so excited for the years and months ahead of you guys! Happy New Year!
