Straight out of college I move back to Baltimore to start a job as a kindergarten teachers assistant. Many of you don’t know that I taught elementary education at the McDonogh school prior to moving into the marketing world, even before we were wedding photographers. My first year as a teachers assistant was with the beautiful Tammy R. How this ties into this wedding is that Tammy is the mother of my bride MJ.
About six years ago I did a reunion shoot for the race family and got to meet a handful of aunts uncles and cousins. Little did I know that we would be full-time wedding photographer shooting MJ’s wedding in the years to come. When they asked me to shoot their wedding Patrick and I were so honored and excited. Of course we said yes and would be happy to go wherever they wanted to tie the knot.
MJ and Keith decided to have their wedding in Luray Virginia at the beautiful Brenwood Lake venue.
Patrick and I drove down the night before to ensure we were able to see the venue prior to wedding day. We knew we were in for a beautiful ceremony in their outdoor space alongside the venue which felt like a rustic barn but updated for a great party.
MJ and Keith rented a few houses and rentals at a the farm about 20 minutes from the venue. They got ready in separate spaces alongside their wedding parties and families. They shared a really sweet look with dad’s bridal party.
MJ and Keith got married last year on a mountain just the two of them and an officiant. Even though they are married this really was their wedding for their families and their friends. So as such we treated it as if it was a first time experience for them because it was.
They shared a very beautiful sweet look with the Shenandoah Mountains behind them. We were able to do bridal party pictures on the front end of the day alongside their bridal parties.
If you are one of our other couples reading this, MJ + Keith did extended family photos prior to the ceremony, allowing EVERYONE to go to cocktail hour immediately following ceremony. This might be a new trend for this year. Regardless these two had the best day ever. They danced their heart out and spent as much time with family and friends as they had hoped to. I absolutely love the speeches by MJ’s dad alongside MJ’s brother who gave a hilarious speech pretending to be Mark Zuckerberg, a letter from him to the groom which was hilarious since the groom works for Facebook.
These two dance so much and enjoy every bit of it. MJ and Key thanks so much for choosing us. We would drive down there all over again and marry you all over again. We wish you guys the best and can’t wait for what’s to come for you both!
