Thanks to one of our amazing brides, we found the beautiful Sarah Becker! It is crazy how worlds collide because Sarah used to work at a great organization called HopeSprings, which was a client of the branding agency that Maggie used to work at prior to going full-time as a wedding photographer.

Sarah is a perfect fit for our company and it is amazing how God totally aligns people and timing. Sarah, we are honored to have you on board! See her intro below!

Patrick & Maggie

Hello, brides, grooms, creatives, and other lovers of Living Radiant!

My name is Sarah and I’m a new intern working with Maggie and Patrick. I was born and raised in Frederick, Maryland and I’ve spent the last twenty-three years learning all that I can! My passion in life is anthropology in all of it’s forms: medical anthropology, visual anthropology, ethnography, etc. But I’ve done it all! I’ve taught gymnastics, photographed for Habitat for Humanity, provided HIV education and testing in Baltimore City, did research in a government science lab, and worked as an editor at a newspaper. And that’s just some of it. I have had such a blast over the last two weeks and I have already learned so much: about branding, the role of the wedding photographer (hint: amateur marriage counselor and bride’s best friend), and also about food (the Nolans love food! I’ve tried sushi and tikka masala already!). But most importantly, I’m looking forward to getting to know all of you!

1. My Favorite Lens: My Canon 40mm f/2.8

2. Favorite Go-To Food: McDonalds Grilled Chicken and Ranch Wrap! Yum!

3. Favorite Thing About Wedding Photography: The authenticity of it all. Every emotion is purely genuine: happy tears, sad tears, welcoming tears, and most importantly: the smiles.

4. Things You Want To Get Better At: Utilizing flash in photography and those tricky ring shots!

5. Best Part About Working With The Nolans: They are hysterical, and are giving people! I love them! But picking the best part? That’s nearly impossible.. But so far it might be Maggie and I’s dinner that consisted of: lemonade, hot chocolate, hot dogs, mac and cheese, and samosas. Yum!

6. What Things Are You Passionate About (besides photography): The better question might be what I’m not passionate about… But I love people and I love education (learning, teaching, all of it!).

My first day as a Living Radiant “Dream Team” Member (we might make t-shirts, it’s pretty exciting) consisted of an engagement session. And let me tell you, it was so much fun! I got to meet a wonderful couple named Eva and Dave and we all got to experience our first photo shoot together!

Right off the bat, I knew that if all of Maggie and Patrick’s clients were as awesome as Eva and Dave we would be in for a world of fun over the next few months!

I also learned that being in love for pictures looks very different than being in love for real. But maybe that’s what is so beautiful about it? Being in love for real is messy; it’s good—great, even—but sometimes it’s also bad. But being in love for photos is all good all the time which almost makes it seem unreal. Which is why when Maggie or Patrick say, “Put your hand here” or “grab his arm like this” and it’s something you’d never do and it feels weird—don’t fret! Your love is comfortable, you’re not a professional model, and the two of you may never act this way.

But honestly, trust them, because it makes a really nice picture!
Some of my favorite shots from the day with Eva and Dave were the “bloopers” or “behind-the-scenes” shots, the natural ones showing each individual’s authenticity.

Remember that’s the most important part! Your shoulder may be pushed down, chest out, eyes looking who-knows-where, but if your smile is genuine your happiness truly shows. And nothing makes for a better picture of two people in love than genuine smiles.
