Yay! I am so excited to finally share Marina + Eddie’s wedding on the blog today! I did their engagement session in Fells Point over the summer, and it was one of my favorites. I love a story they told about their first date – it was supposed to be for breakfast, but they ended up spending the whole day together talking, laughing, strolling the city. Marina + Eddie are such kind people, so laid back, and so fun to be around, so I was so excited to be alongside them for their whole wedding day! We started the day at the Canopy Hotel in downtown Baltimore. The girls and guys both had awesome suites, and it’s one of my favorite hotels to shoot getting ready photos in because the floor to ceiling windows fill the room with natural light. There was a little bit of rain in the forecast, but we were hoping for the best and totally lucked out. After hair, makeup, and some fun bridesmaids pajama photos, Marina got ready in the bedroom with her mom and had a special moment. Once she was all ready, we set up the bridesmaids so she could come out and do a fun reveal – and I love the looks on their faces!
The rain did hold off, so we went outside to start with portraits. First we did my favorite wedding day moment – a dad reveal! I love capturing the moment dads see their daughters for the first time on their wedding day, and this one was just perfect. Next we brought Eddie out and set up for a first look. I love the lighting in the courtyard behind the Canopy hotel, because we never want to do a first look somewhere where the sun is shining so bright that the groom can’t see the bride properly. But this light was soft and beautiful and the perfect setting for their first look! We went from there right into newlywed portraits. I love working with Paperboys films, they’re a super talented team and it’s fun for us to have another creative mind to work with for posing and locations for segments. We did some cool newlyweds and then moved into wedding parties and family portraits, getting them all done just in time for a few raindrops to start coming down! We got the bride and groom on the bus with their wedding party, and headed over to the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation for their ceremony. It was a beautiful traditional Greek wedding, followed by some family photos outside and a petal sent off with their family + wedding party.
Next we drove over to the Belvedere and got some of the iconic shots outside with the sign, before sending our couple up for cocktail hour! We prepped the lighting for reception, and photographed all of the beautiful details. They had a champagne wall with their monogram which was my favorite touch. Marina + Eddie came in for a room reveal towards the end of cocktail hour and practiced their first dance which was beautiful! It’s awesome when we get to do that, and preview their choreographed dance so I know to be in the right spots to capture their dip! The DJ had cold sparklers, which add such a fun/exciting element. Everyone came in for reception and sat down, as the bridal party came in bringing so much energy before Marina and Eddie made their grand entrance and the sparklers went off. The new Mr. and Mrs. Impartos went right into their first dance and it was beautiful! Marina’s parents welcomed everyone to the reception, the food was blessed by Father Anastasios, and dinner was served. After dinner, we had toasts, followed by parent dances. Marina and her dad Nick danced to Butterfly kisses (I only cried a little bit) and I loved Eddie and his mom Lori’s choice of Stand by Me by Florence and the Machine. After those, everyone filled the dance floor for a money dance.
Once the party started rocking on the dance floor, it didn’t stop. Later on, we cut the cake, Marina tossed her bouquet to the song Miracles Happen (one of my all time favorites), and then we snuck away with the couple for some night shots. We had to do the epic nighttime Belvedere photos – in the window, the elevator, and finally ended the night by spraying champagne and twirling under the lit sign in front. All together, it was a beautiful day with high energy, great vibes, and so much fun!
Marina + Eddie – congratulations on your wedding and look forward to following along with your life and milestones to come! xo
