No one would believe us if we told them we got to ride in a helicopter at an engagement session… but we did, even if it was less than 10 seconds. Kasey and Steve had the most suspenseful e-session you could imagine (well, that we’ve had at least!). Story to come…
Patrick and I left Baltimore on an afternoon before rush hour to head up to Atlantic City, New Jersey for a beach engagement session. Kasey and Steve have sentimental ties to a cute beach called Brigantine, NJ just north of Atlantic City (you can see Atlantic City from where we were). Steve spent summers there growing up where his parents have a home near the beach. We had the honor of meeting them and let me tell you… Kasey is getting a stellar mother-in-law! The weather behaved so well and our couple did fabulous!
During the shoot, while Steve and Kasey were in their formal wear in the waves, a helicopter flew by, circled back, and waved us to come over. We hopped in, beaming with excitement! I know, we get in an aircraft with someone we don’t know, awesome. But it was AWESOME! All of the sudden we see police on the beach and we are all like “oh geez.” It turned out that the cops didn’t really know what happened. They were confused because this was a first for them. They didn’t know if the beach was public or private and then they didn’t know what the rules were for the beach we were on. There was NO one on the beach other than us, and the older experienced police officer thought it was pretty neat about what we were doing and what the pilot was offering to do (he was a total romantic). Anyway, long story short, the police let the guy go, let us keep taking pictures, Steve’s parents vouched for all the innocent in the aircraft, and we have a killer story with pictures to prove (Be sure to look through the whole post… we shot helicopter in the middle of the good stuff!) So, in short, dress up in formal wear, jump in the waves, and you might get picked up by an helicopter and it’s totally cool!
Kasey and Steve… we had so much fun with you guys (and your parents!) Thanks for being spontaneous, open to trying new poses, and just being yourselves… you did fabulous and your pictures show it!

Ok… so this is where the craziness joins in on all the fun we were already having! I’ll never forget when I looked over at our couple to see what they wanted to do, they were like “let’s go for it!” and so we hopped in the plane!
So after all the commotion and realizing that the guy we rode with didn’t do anything wrong, and the police officers let everyone go, we finished the e-session with awesome sunsets and an amazing boat too!
Oh… and last but not least… thank you to Mr & Mrs Manley for your help on the beach, hauling props for the shoot, for feeding us dinner, and for inviting us into your home. Patrick and I loved meeting you guys and can’t wait to see you again! Here’s are some behind the scenes of our time together!
