Most our couples show up to their engagement session with an arrangement of emotions. Some nervous, anxiety, self-conscious, excited, anticipatory, or stressed out.
We tell everyone that the first 5 minutes always feel “awkward” because their doing something they’ve probably never done before… but we promise that after 5 minutes, their comfortably with a camera and with us increases.
Amanda and Dillon didn’t even need 5 minutes. In no time, they were affectionate, laughing, and at the same time trying to keep Tucker their fur baby focused on the task at hand.
Amanda is also a business owner of an online retail boutique called Boutique 44… go check it out! I meet her at a Cake & Whiskey event in Baltimore hosted by the amazing Stephanie Bradshaw, and also through a Rachel Mulherrin Holy Glam event. If you haven’t heard of these three incredible women, go take a peek at what they do. You won’t be sorry.
When we meet people at bridal shows, we really don’t know if they will really hire us that week, in the weeks to come, or in the years to come. And then we get inquiries from WeddingWire, TheKnot, and of course our personal fav… Instagram. This is where it gets really cool. So Alison and Alex found us on Instagram, man, the power of social media is no joke. When we met these two, Patrick and I both were like “oh man… they are awesome!” And like all our consults and initial meetings, we thank them and tell them we’ll follow up in about a week, and they walk out our door. We let all our potential clients have a few days to look through pricing, packages, and really make a decision on their photography investment. Well, in just 48 hours, these two emailed us and asked us to be their wedding photographers! We were thrilled and so so excited.
GAH!! I love everything about this session! So first off, any of our couples that opt for a sunrise engagement session, I always think “I sure hope these guys can get up and get there before the sun comes up.” Well, let’s just say, these two beat us there, and Rosalie even got her hair and makeup done by our awesome friend Sara, owner of Infinity Artistry.
Rosalie and Jon didn’t just do good, they killed their session! Just wait until you see these blossoms, the fun these two had together, and the love they displayed toward each other. We tell everyone “the first 5 minutes are always awkward for everyone,” but these two were ready to go from the start. With the sun not even up yet, we were about to get some really beautiful “night” shots at dawn.
Aww yah! Will and Ashley’s session is live on the blog and we are so pumped. When we think of these two, two words come to mind. Sweet and Tender. Will is so funny, playful, and sweet to Ashley, and Ashley is tender, kind, and gentle. Watching these two interact during our time with them allowed us to really capture their personalities and their care for each other.
Well, we’ve officially kept our kid alive for 1 year!! HOORAY! Okay, but really, we can’t believe that we have a 1 year old! Where did this year go!?
We invited a friends and family to come celebrate Zeke a few days after his first birthday! If you haven’t been to our house, you should know that I’m obsessed with seashells, water, the beach, and sunshine. I mean, our guest bathroom/Zeke’s bathroom has boat oars, a Navy shiplap wall, and a boat wheel. We figured it would be fitting to do a Whale themed birthday party and incorporate boats, whales and seagulls for the BIG ONE!
Happy Birthday to the best boy I know. I love my little guy! Oh, and if you scroll to the bottom, we have proof that he isn’t ‘always smiles and giggles!
These guys opted for quiet waters park in Annapolis because that’s home for them. They both are military and Sarah is a naval academy grad! Their sweet sweet pup Scarlet did awesome! Stephen and Sarah, You guys rocked your session, even though it was cold cold!!! We can’t wait for your wedding day to come!
We can’t tell you how many weddings we’ve shot where we’ve photographed siblings, cousins, etc. We met James and Jessica through his sister, Heather, who was one of our brides. When James and Jessica said they wanted to hire us too, we were so so excited. Not just because they are sweet, fun, and beautiful, but also because we love their family, and can’t wait to see them all again. It will be like a reunion!
We flew out to San Diego for a job we were hired to photograph. It was a special Bar Mitzvah for a very special kid. You can check out that awesome Ravens themed Bar Mitzvah here!
I’ve had something on my bucket list since I was a kid: Go to the San Diego Zoo. I still can’t believe that we got to go earlier this year. You’ll find our adventures here as well as pictures from the whole trip. We literally spent 2 days in San Diego.
We had a 6 hour travel day become a 15 hour travel day, then shot a Bar Mitzvah, then went to the Zoo and then later that night took a Red Eye home. With my mom and Zeke too. I know, we are nuts. But it was so worth it!!
“It never rains in San Diego” they say. LIES. It rained almost the whole time… but we didn’t care, we said “we’ll make our own damn sunshine” and went on adventures regardless. We stayed at La Jolla Hilton, and walked down to the famous La Jolla Torrey Pines, and checked out the hotels down there… incredible.
Enjoy the Post!!
9 years ago I was finishing up my victory lap of college (5 years!) and was home bound. I got a job in August teaching at a private locally and had my first ever real life job post college. I was an assistant kindergarten teacher at the McDonogh School. That class is so special to me as I become a lead teacher half way through due to unforeseen circumstances. Those students were and still are incredible. In that mix of kids was a super cute and mischievous kid named Matthew. He wanted to please yet was always up to no good. I know, a 5 year old. But 9 years later, Matt’s parents reached out and asked Patrick and I to photograph his Bar Mitzvah.
