We are excited to share this session with you for a few reasons. Mainly because Emily and Greg hired us a couple months ago and we did their session right away at one of my favorite engagement session locations: Brookside Gardens. They have such gorgeous variety and this couple is not only cute, but they totally trusted us as we cruised the property in search of beauty. I had seen on Instagram about 2 days before hand really pretty pink azalea bushes and I was determined to find them… and found them we did!
It’s been two years since we’ve seen these guys… dang time flies. We first met these guys at a wedding (though I don’t remember whose) and then they hired us to do their Fells Point engagement session! They got married in New York and unfortunately we were already booked for their date, otherwise we probably would have shot another New York wedding!
But two years laters, Lauren reached out asking if we did in-home sessions. In excitement I replied and said “NO! But I’ve always wanted to shoot one!” So we scheduled this session and early this week got to photograph these love birds once more, but as husband and wife in their home. They wanted me to capture them in this space, before they sell their home and move. Of course we had to include JoJo their sweet dog, who of course remembered me (NOT!) but still was welcoming of me into their home.
I’ve known Sarah probably since we were in elementary school. We grew up in the same church most our lives and were involved in church productions and youth group functions. Though a little younger than me, we weren’t super close. Earlier this year, Sarah reached out about photographing her and her then boyfriend Andrew for […]
If I had to give awards to each and every engagement session, I would definitely give this two awards. One award would go to the weather for being one of the coldest engagement sessions we’ve ever done. Even our Colorado engagement session we did a couple years ago was even colder than this shoot that we did at Peak Cherry Blossom. The other award would go to our couple, Melissa and Kevin, for being rockstars and braving the cold. She even wore sleeveless dresses.
It’s become common for us to go to New York more than once in a year for our couples. Almost every year we either shoot a New York wedding or a New York engagement session. I’m going to put it out there into the Instagram world and Blog world that I’d LOVE to shoot an engagement session in Central Park at the Zoo! Yes please! So if you know anyone, send them our way! Oh and with some of the Plaza in the background please!!
Anyway, Marisa and Kris hired us for their Maryland wedding but being both from New York, it was only fitting to photograph these lovebirds in the state they met, at a GORGEOUS historic state park near Chris’ home.
We have been looking forward to this wedding for months. We found friends in this couple and in their families. They trusted us beyond measure for their daughters wedding day. Ms Dana even took me in her car from ceremony to reception and my time with her was so special, mainly because it’s rare that I get time with a mom on a wedding day, one on one. Brooke, your mom is soo unbelievably proud of you and Nick, she 100% trusts you with her daughters heart. It’s not surprising that your deep connection and relationships within your Kingdom Hall is a huge part of why you all love the way you do, and are so loving towards all.
When we scheduled our trip, we were also in the middle of planning Brittany and Juans session. These lovebirds live in West Virginia and we were trying to coordinate dates. Brittany had shared that she wanted a winter fell, in the woods, and I told her that Baltimore wasn’t getting any snow or any winter vibes. So then it dawned on us, why not do it while we are out in Deep Creek! We proposed the idea to these guys and they took us up on the offer.
Sarah met up with Mallory and DJ for a surprisingly warm Sunday down in Owings, MD. These two cuties live on the Eastern Shore, but grew up near Owings and that’s where their parents still live. It was a wedding-packed weekend, with Mallory finding her dress that weekend, too. These guys had a beautiful session on Mallory’s parents’ property complete with water, a dock, and their sweet, fluffly Golden Luna. We had a ton of fun with their energetic pup and are so thankful for DJ’s mom for the beautiful handmade sign!
