Oh Annapolis. Sometimes I think I probably should have been an Annapolis raised girl, only because I love the water, love to sail, love the feel of small towns, local shops, unique food, and love our country and our military.
When James and Jenn said they wanted their photos to be some where different, somewhere not in Baltimore, I knew where to take them. They really wanted photos throughout Annapolis, including at USNA. So, we ventured throughout town. We of course picked by accident the same day as a huge boat show right down Ego Alley, but even still, you wouldn’t have known that Annapolis was swamped with boat show peeps.
Jenn and James, we loved our time with you. Thanks for letting us go a little longer than we were supposed to get you a pretty sweet night shot.
Kind and Sweet is how Patrick describes these two. When we did their engagement session we knew they were special. They were sweet, sincere, gentle, soft, and kind. They aren’t pushy, loud, obnoxious or self focused. Opposite from our personalities we somehow loved our time together, and found ourselves getting to know each other at the Mount Washington Tavern after dinner.
We have an inside joke with them. Two words: Little Sebastian. A little mole that photobombed their engagement session and since has just been a joke between the four of us.
When their wedding day came, Amy gets the award for most calm, laid back, and chill bride. She wasn’t anxious or nervous. When we met up with Eliott, we asked how he was feeling. His response… I’m not nervous, I’m excited.
Alison and Alex, we can’t even begin to tell you how pumped we were to shoot your wedding. Your wedding was the last wedding we had in October. It was the last of 11 weeks in a row of weddings. We had 15 weddings in 11 weeks not to mention other sessions, shoots, and meetings. Shooting your wedding was the icing on the cake, and we were so thrilled to be there with you guys.
The day started off with the laughter of bridesmaids as I walked into the room. As we walked in, the girls were just smiling and then I saw my bride Alison, looking so incredible and so excited for her wedding day. We weren’t there long before we drove to Rolling Road Country Club where Alex and Alison shared a first look on the golf course. Followed by photos with family and wedding party, their photo segment ended with us all in golf carts cruising the property, chasing light and beautiful locations.
In 2015, my mom’s high school best friend reached out to me asking what our pricing was. She had a daughter getting married and knew we were photographers and wanted us to shoot her daughters wedding. Marybeth and Brads wedding was one of our first weddings as full-time photographers. 4 years later, Ms Cathy emails me again. This time for her son. Of course, “we’d be honored” I told her.
Meet Mo and David. When Monique and David hired us, alongside Ms Cathy, we were so excited. Mainly because we had worked with this family before, knew they were good people, and secretly, I was really excited to see Marybeth and Brad again. The last time we saw them was when we said goodbye at the end of their wedding.
It was so great to meet Laura and Kurt at the Living Radiant office a few months ago! They are the sweetest couple, their wedding to be focused on their family and friends. When it got time to plan their engagement session, Laura said she really wanted it to feel like fall! Well, fall came late this year and with all of the rain we had to reschedule until we could find a perfect day with the perfect colors! We met at one of my favorite places, Patapsco State Park. There is so much variety there, from bridges to the river to even train tracks. It’s always one of our favorites. Luckily, the weather was great that day and we were able to find some beautiful fall-like places to shoot! We even spotted a part of the track that was shared with a family of deer. Check out their pictures below and stay tuned for their wedding this summer! Can’t wait!
There’s something us private school kids will only because we all went to private school. We’ve got Bryn Mawr, Garrison Forest, Calvert Hall and Mount St Joe represented. How awesome.
Alexa and Zach hired us thanks to the amazing referrals from Ashley + Travis and Abby + Bryn. When we met these two we were like “ummm yah, they are totally our client.” Not because of what they spent or their details or their timeline, but because simply put, they are real, they are sweet, and they know how to have fun.
The day started at Hotel Revival, a really cool Parisian Hotel in Mount Vernon. The collage wall, holy moly, how gorgeous. I was so excited to know that the wedding party was getting ready there, followed by a really sweet first look on the greens of Mt Vernon, with some chill in the air and a slight breeze.
When I walked into the room, Amanda was in the makeup chair, beaming. I was so excited to see our bride, and to know that she was so excited to see us was the best feeling. Seeing us made it feel more real she said, and we gave her a hug and got to work. Her details were beautiful, her dress stunning, and my personal favorite, the reveal with her dad. He gave her a music box, custom sound, a song from her childhood.
Danielle and Shaun got married at the beautiful Catoctin Hall at Musket Ridge Golf Course. It was a beautiful day full of excitement and anticipation. I especially loved their first look, with the golf course set behind them. We ventured across the property to get beautiful photos and found endless locations full of beautiful backdrops. When we photograph here I always feel like it’s a destination, I don’t feel like I’m in Maryland because of the terrain and scenery. These two love to travel and incorporated their love of travelling throughout their wedding. My personal favorite was their favors which were luggage tags… I secretly wanted to steal 2 for Patrick and I but of course resisted considering they were at seats.
Saboring Champagne and eating Pizza. I mean, seriously… what a great theme for an engagement session! When Brandon emailed me proposing this idea, Patrick and I were like, absolutely. Dress up, drink champagne (or pretend to) and totally sit with feet over the water eating a box of yummy Papa Johns Pizza… we were all about it.
