We’ve never done this and we thought it would be awesome to share. We get a lot of compliments on our work and our personalities and our professionalism, so we figured it would be appropriate to share some of our 2018 Behind the Scenes to show the not so glamorous part of our job… some embarrassing and some hilarious… What an amazing year we had, we hope you had an incredible 2018 too.
The day starts with details. We can’t even tell you how many doors, windows, dressers, fireplaces, mantels, staircases, or any other object we’ve hung a dress on. But it’s always beautiful!
From Drones to Florals, he does it all.
I told you. Ring shots… that’s his thing.
First looks always shows how we really feel.. it was freezing and there was so much glare, can you see my squinty self! Dresses have to be perfect as she walks to her groom.
Did we tell you we love dresses? Not sure how many times we fix trains, but they have to stay clean, dirt free, and look bomb.
Whatever it takes.
Most of our behind the scenes includes our behind. You’ll see a lot of those.
Unless we are taking test shots. Oh and in these, it’s pouring down rain. Do everything with a smile.
We love our couples, and love all their angles.
My man. He’s so good at what he does.
And Tony, our film maker, what a stud! He joined our team in September… and killed it. So glad to have him!
And the planners we’ve worked with, what incredible people!
Oh and ceremony. That time I was so wet from the rain that I looked like a sad dog down front, and then all those times of working with awesome videography teams and making sure to get details without interfering with guests. And can you see what one of my go to outfits was this summer… blue top, black pants, black tieks.. predictable.
Say hello to people dynamic. What no one tells you as a wedding photographer: go deal with 50 personalities all day and smile the whole time. And go. It’s like roulette, you don’t know when someone will flesh out even though you’re doing your absolute best to manage so many people, expectations, and desires… not to mention weather from extreme heat and sun to pouring rain.
Me doing my thing with family photos and wedding party.
Oh, that time we brought our kid to the elopement. Why, because it was spontaneous and last minute and we said yes if we could bring Zeke. He photobombed.
Oh rain. Do you know we probably shot over 20 rainy day weddings this year?
The amazing angles of Patrick Nolan… what a man.
Fixing boutineers.
“Patrick, is this good?”
As I yell across the harbor.
This view never gets old.
Reception fun while waiting for something to happen.
More working with people and telling them what to do. I try real hard not to be bossy.
And you thought the wind just magically swoops them. NOT. In my Disney Dreams. To all the real veil wizards… thank you.
We are so team bride, it’s not even funny.
I told you he does veil and dresses and drones. What a man, again.
Oh, I’m not just a wedding photographer. I’ll gladly bustle your train, fix your hair, help with makeup and carry florals. That’s why they pay me the big bucks… (those things are not in contract lol)
Making photos even better.
Hmmm I think we’ve had 4 rips this year. He’s got a booty and I love it.
Being discrete is what we aim to do, while ensuring gorgeous photos, angles, composition and more. And then sometimes we just admire our people.
Details… it’s all about details and what the eye sees (or doesn’t see).
Tony playing with sick lighting at night for video.
And so it begins. Night shots. Test one.
Oh and yes, we do rain night shots too, they are my favorite.
I had to include this. My of my favorite behind the scenes of me this year. Bomb diggity.
Test 2 and test 3 and 4. And I even had an audience for my 4th one!
Ohhh the yellows and golds of night shots in awesome hotels. Can you guess where these are?
When there was a DIY photobooth at a wedding but it stopped working. We tried to fix it and couldn’t but took selfies using our big boy cameras instead and put them in the final gallery. They loved it.
Reception Rock Out. He’s so focused. Oh and that time we opted not to use a tripod to try a new technique. It was awesome.
There’s always assistants. They show up unexpected and unannounced, but we don’t pay them.
Sarah doing her thing, me excited about something like normal, Patrick ready to go, and then Patrick taking bokeh light photos…
Testing Cake Light again.
Love this. The baking team was a family attending the wedding and we told them they were a real vendor… they cheered!
More cake. and more lighting.
One of our favorites, Crow Entertainment. You can see why. That time he was taking a selfie and I said, I want one, and used my camera… I’m pretty good at DSLR selfies.
Of course we get our vendors awesome behind the scenes too, we can’t do this without them you know.
Oh good Lawd… worse behind the scenes photo of the year. Me asking guests to hold sparklers high. Thanks Patrick.
Success used to be how many weddings we’d book in a year. Now it’s how many guests want photos with us, or handshakes and hugs that Patrick gets or kisses from parents or invitations to dance that I get. We of course don’t reciprocate, but we will gladly take photos with folks that want a picture with them.
That time we shot a wedding and 5 of my brides were there… It was a dream come true. Love these babes.
Oh, and when there’s more than one groom, that’s even cooler. Love our studs.
Oh man… these people are the best… love them!
The photo in the middle, we shot both sisters weddings, super special! Top right photo, this was the last wedding Clickspark had on their schedule and we were so honored we were the last wedding photographer they worked with before going on to bigger things! And then me with my brides… babes.
Our goal at the end of every wedding is to take a photo with our couple. How gorgeous are our people? These are just some of them!
That’s a wrap! Thank you to all 38 of our amazing 2018 couples. We do have one more wedding on the 29th in Long Island NY!
This year was incredible and we are so honored you allowed us to come alongside you. We hope you enjoyed this post and it brought back memories of the behind the scenes of your wedding day.
