I am excited to share this wedding probably most because it is a private residence wedding right off the hole 18 at the Hillendale golf golf course, and because Katie and Greg are a bomb couple!
We met Kaity and Greg back in 2019 and we were so excited for their 2020 wedding. But once Covid shut everything down I remember talking with Katie and Greg and we went along with them for a postponement into 2021. I’m really proud of these guys and their parents because planning a wedding a second time is hard but planning a second wedding when it’s at your home and having to bring in vendors and rentals of all sorts is not an easy feat. Katie and her family including Greg and his spent endless hours working to make the property gorgeous. And I’ll tell you what it’s one of the prettiest backyard weddings we have ever photographed. The day started out with the girls getting ready at Katie’s parents home. Cooper their dog was there as well making sure everyone was staying on time. The girls and their matching robes on could be heard throughout the house. Laughter, anticipation, and ease were all vibes. Transportation picked us up and took us to the beautiful St. Mary’s Cathedral on Charles Street. The ride over was fun, memorable, as we watched Katie’s bridesmaids and her dad sing songs about weddings and being in love while standing up in the trolley. Katie beamed the whole ride.
The Catholic ceremony at the church was beautiful. What an incredible church. I’ve always wanted to photograph there so that was a bucket list ceremony venue for us. After the ceremony guests headed to the residence of the brides parents home where they would have cocktails and grab drinks out of a large boat in the backyard. The pool was a centerpiece as were lawn games, a lounge, and they beautiful Hillendale Gold Course. The wedding party met us at the top of the golf course, where we walk the property and got beautiful segments for them. We released the bridal party to head back to the party, but Katie Greg Patrick and I took golf carts and headed all over the golf course for newlywed segments. What an adventure. We finished the golf course adventure at the gate of their parents home right off of hole 18 on the golf course. They headed to cocktail hour and we headed into reception to document all the beauty. The band Hero, local to Baltimore, was incredible. Maybe one of my favorite bands to date. They rocked out all night and had people on the dance floor continuously. Katie and Greg’s cake cutting may have been my favorite moment of the day later on. When Katie and Greg went to cut their cake it was frozen. They couldn’t actually cut through it which resulted in very funny laughter and a slight delay, but that didn’t keep them from enjoying the moment and memory! Now the speeches. Katie is the first of 3 daughters to get married. Later on in the night when the sisters gave their speeches I realized why I love the sister unit so much. They actually remind me of me and my sisters as well. Katie’s family is very close and it was evident from the start from the site visit where I went to their house weeks before the wedding where I realize that this was going to be a fun intimate and really kind wedding. Tight family for sure! The dad had a great sense of humor and his speech made everyone laugh. The father of the groom is a pastor and shared beautiful stories about love in Jesus in the church. What an awesome day.
Katie and Greg thank you so much for including us in your amazing journey. We’ve all been through so much with Covid reschedules and I’m so happy you stuck with us and allowed us to partner and come alongside you all day long. You guys are beautiful. We wish you guys all the best and can’t wait to see you in the future. Cheers to a wonderful life together!
