If there’s two people that just go together, it’s Chelsea and Matthew. We met these guys at a Bridal Show when Chelsea told me that her photographer bailed. Her dad, little did I know, was watching us from afar and approached me and said “we want to hire you. I’ve been watching and we love how you deal with people.” They literally booked us that night. Little did we know what we were getting ourselves into. I’m gonna stop for a second and say, Off Beat is exactly who these people are. They aren’t into trends, they don’t care about fame. But what they do care about is those they love, their heirlooms, their music, and of course, their mopeds and bikes.
When Matthew told us their send off would be a burn out with mopeds, I really hope my jaw didn’t drop. We’ve done fireworks, bubbles, sparklers (like so many times I can’t count), fake snow, paper pieces, flowers, but never never never did I ever think I would see a moped send off. Guys, it’s awesome. And when the police show up just to make sure no one’s messing around, you know it’s a party.
These two had such a cool wedding. Chelsea wore garters that were passed down from generations. Their love for scooters and mopeds and bikes were woven into their Baltimore themed wedding, from their dating scene to his proposal at a bike rally to the custom cufflinks on his sleeves the day of his wedding to literal mopeds they drove away on at the end of the night. Their Baltimore themed wedding at the Baltimore Museum of Industry was what these guys have envisioned from day one and being a witness to is something we’ll never forget. Including all the DIY pieces that Tenley, Chelsea’s mom, did for the wedding. Like the Hon escort table.
Chelsea and Matt, thanks for inviting us into your families, your world, and your circle. Even though bikes freak us out and we may never own one, watching you two dance, laugh, and look at each other like you were the only ones on that dance floor was the sweetest honor and we are so glad we got to witness it and get to know you. We have new friends in you guys because of your wedding and those few meetings we had where we could just be real.
Come visit whenever. If I ever decide to buy that Mint Green Vespa I saw in Spain when I lived abroad, I will let you know, cause you’re the only ones I trust with a bike.
Xo, Maggie + Patrick
