Whoever wrote the phrase “April showers bring May flowers” clearly was wrong in 2018. It has rained more in May than we’ve ever seen in our life, and we have had more rainy wedding days in 1 month than in our entire career! But rain brings a beautiful and dreamy element to wedding days that we love.
One of our local venues, the Gramercy Mansion, is filled with small and big tokens of love, laughter, history and memories. Our couple and their wedding is no different.
Ashley and Kevin really wanted an outdoor ceremony among the gardens. The rain was unavoidable and as such Plan B went into effect into the beautiful atrium. The atrium is like a greenhouse, lots of ivy covered windows filtering natural light and glistens of raindrops. Ashley and Kevin said I Do sealed with a kiss among family and friends looking out to the ivy covered walls. They held hands laughing as they walking through the gardens under umbrellas in between sun and rainfall. Their bridesmaids were prepared with rain boots and smiles. Nothing would stop these girls from celebrating their friend! Kevin and Ashley are sentimental and intentional. Kevin’s gift to his bride: a time capsule full of letters for the present and future. Ashley’s gift to Kevin: a love letter, a toast for he and his groomsmen, and a star map of their love story. One of our favorite details was a surprise gift Ashley gave to her mom, an illustration of the two of them on her wedding day. These are just a few of those details that were woven into the day. The love these guys have is deep and thoughtful. The speeches were sweet and meaningful and captivated guests and family alike.
Ashley and Kevin, what a beautiful day you had, with sun and rain. Watching you smile and laugh while busting moves on the dance floor (Your momma told us all you wanted to do was to dance at your wedding!) and watching you look at each other, choosing each other regardless of the obstacles of the day is empowering. We are excited to see where your love takes you.
