I’ve known Sarah probably since we were in elementary school. We grew up in the same church most our lives and were involved in church productions and youth group functions. Though a little younger than me, we weren’t super close.
Earlier this year, Sarah reached out about photographing her and her then boyfriend Andrew for a little couples session this coming April. I said, let’s do it, and we went ahead and scheduled it. Then out of no where, Andrew proposed and Sarah and Andrew came to our home and invited us to not only attend their wedding but to photograph it. I was thrilled! I’m not sure if I was more excited to shoot their wedding or to see their families who I hadn’t seen since high school (2004!)
So on March 30, Andrew and Sarah got married in front of 50 of their closest friends and family. They actually were married by the pastor who married Patrick and I so that was soo special for us. And my favorite part… they washed each others feet as a symbol of unity and serving each other as husband and wife. We also did that at our wedding and couldn’t help but glance over at Patrick during that moment because of how special that was for us.
Sarah and Andrew, thanks for being amazing and trusting us (even when we said we were going to take you to a surprise location for portrait time!) You hoped in our car and didn’t even show any hesitation. We can’t wait to see you again for your “1 month anniversary session” in April. It’s gonna be epic!
