Up on the blog today is Josh and Johnnas beautiful October Turf Valley Wedding! We are so excited to share this wedding for sooo many reasons! First off, Johnna’s family, parents and aunts and uncles are owners of Turf Valley. I jokingly say they all own Howard County… and they are some of the most incredible people. But beyond that, Johnna’s sister Nicole is one of my best friends in the industry and I’m so thankful for her friendship. When Nicole shared with me that her sister was engaged, I was sooo excited! I secretly hoped they would hire us, so when Josh and Johnna reached out, I was ecstatic! I love their families more than they know. A funny story before we dive in… back in 2014 when we went full-time as wedding photographers Turf Valley was on my bucket list of venues. I remember thinking… man, the day we photograph a wedding at Turf Valley, I will feel like I hit the lottery. The relationship we’ve cultivated in the last 10 years has brought great friendships, even with their catering staff and managers I feel like we can really create magic there and have the trust of the staff.
The whole day was incredible for Josh and Johnna. The morning stayed on time, hair and makeup rocked their craft. The girls looked beautiful. I loved that Johnna had thoughtful gifts for her mom and sister including a map of the Apalachian Trail and places they had gone together. To her mom a beautiful water color painting of generations in their dresses. Her dad contributed his lux Cobra, what a beauty and we got to use it throughout the day!
Our almost newlyweds shared a first touch in which they giggled and talked, but didn’t see each other until Johnna walked down the aisle.
Ceremony was out on the green, where family and friends were driven from the parking lot to the place where our newlyweds would say I do. A cousin sang, a niece and nephew were the flower children and heir sweet dog walked down the aisle. I love that Josh’s mom, a pastor, married them. My favorite part of ceremony was their butterfly release symbolizing new adventures and unity in this beautiful thing called marriage.
Cocktail hour had raw bar and signature drinks, and caricature artists. Even a ice sculpture, open bar, and a live painter.
Everyone erupted as they walked into their reception. Their choreographed first dance was beautiful. The speeches that ensued were fun, intentional and full of laughter but seriously and personal details. Food was awesome, Italian lovers of course had an amazing spread of Italian cookies. Kristin and The Noise, the band, rocked all night, and even Uncle Dino and Uncle Pete sang!
What an incredible wedding to be part of. Josh and Johnna, we love you and think the world of you and your family. We can’t thank you enough for trusting us and choosing us! Come visit, come spend time, and forever we can reminisce the awesome day you two had. Cheers to an incredible future together!
