Today on the blog we are sharing Erin and Andrew’s stunning Kent Island Resort wedding! We flew to Dallas to photograph this couple’s engagement session, and were so excited to be part of their wedding day. For a July wedding, we couldn’t believe how lucky we got with the weather. Maggie was on maternity leave, so Melissa (who leads our associate team) photographed this wedding with Patrick! We were also super lucky they chose to work with LynnAaron from Nouvelle as their planner, so we were set up for success with their awesome team in charge! The girls started the day at Kent Island Resort, in their amazing getting ready suite at the Farmstead. We love the natural light. After hair and makeup, and some cute girlie pics in everyone’s matching pajamas, we had Erin’s Maid of Honor Kerri and her mom Ellen help her get ready! The rest of the girls got dressed in a separate room, so once Erin was all ready we could do a fun reveal where her girls got to see her for the first time as a bride! It’s always one of my favorite parts of a wedding day. That, and the dad reveal that followed, definitely had me tearing up a little. It’s such a special moment to have before the day starts getting crazy!
Patrick met the groomsmen at the Hyatt Place Kent Narrows Marina hotel nearby, and photographed Andrew getting ready there. When they were done, all of the guys headed over to the Kent Island Resort to get the day started! As we were getting ready for the First Look, Andrew commented on how much more the girls had to do to get ready vs the guys, and that he even had time to run an errand and get the car washed before Patrick arrived for photos.
Erin and Andrew had envisioned their First Look on the water, so that’s exactly what we did. It was super sweet, and we did a few photos there then moved into the forest area where the couple exchanged letters they had written to each other. I loved our newlywed segment in the forest, the muted background made our stunning bride and groom pop and the shade provided gorgeous lighting. We moved through newlywed photos and continued onto wedding party while we cruised around the resort. Almost all of the family photos were done before ceremony (thank you, first look!) in front of the farmstead, and then Erin and Andrew were able to get back inside about 30 mins before ceremony to relax for a bit while Patrick and I photographed the ceremony details.
Erin and Andrew said “I Do!” in a sweet ceremony surrounded by family and friends in the wooded area of Kent Island Resort. Afterwards, we had a few large group portraits, then the couple was able to join cocktail hour with everyone! The cocktail hour was complete with live music, delicious passed appetizers, and a beautiful kabob station. Our team photographed all of the reception details while people mingled. Before reception started, Erin and Andrew snuck in to do a Room Reveal, which is another one of my favorite wedding trends. The couple spends so much time and effort planning out all of the details, it’s so fun for them to see the results of all of their hard work before people fill the room. It’s also a sweet intimate moment for the two of them, as they practiced their first dance alone. Reception started with intros for parents, wedding party, and the new Mr. and Mrs. DiFerdinando! The energy in the room was amazing and so full of love as Erin and Andrew went right into their first dance. Immediately after, they opened up the dance floor for a dance set by the incredible Prime Time band. We always say, nothing gets the party started quite like a live band does! Once everyone found their seats again, the food was blessed, salads were served, and toasts were given by Anthony (best man + groom’s brother) and Kerri (our amazing MOH). After dinner, we had sweet parent dances with Erin and her dad, followed by Andrew and his mom, and then the dance floor opened for good! Desserts were served, and we snuck out with Erin and Andrew to capture sunset photos in a field. Definitely make sure you scroll to see them – Melissa brought out the profoto magic for these stunning sunset portraits! Once we got back, they joined the dance floor and partied the night away. Towards the end of the night, Erin and Andrew hopped on stage with the band and danced and sang to a crowd of their biggest fans, which was the perfect way to end the night. We loved capturing this day – beautiful weather, a madly in love couple, amazing venue and vendor teams, and the best part was you could feel the love and energy in the room from all of their friends and family. Such a fun day, and we can’t wait to document more milestones for the DiFerdinados!
