We got this really cool inquiry from a company called Pawfect For You wanting to do a media swap about our companies! When we got to know them a little more, and looked at what they do, we said absolutely! Let’s make it happen!
So they sent us a handful of interview questions and we had a blast answering them and giving examples of ways to incorporate your pets into engagement sessions and wedding days!
Enjoy!
1. What creative ways have you seen couples incorporate their pet(s) into their wedding?
In the age of Pinterest and Instagram, couples are getting more and more creative! There are so many fun ways to honor your pet. We have seen couples include their pups in family portraits, as faux-ring bearers and bridal party attendants, and of course, in newlywed portraits. For those who can’t bring their pup to their wedding, bring them to your engagement session and use a picture for your save the dates! Use a silhouette as a cake topper (check Etsy for sweet ideas!), or as table numbers, or on your seating chart. The opportunities are endless!
2. What is your favorite part about photographing pets at weddings?
It’s true that your pets become a part of your family! It’s only natural to want to include your family in on your special day. As photographers who strive on raw, natural human emotion we love the joy that pets bring to our brides and grooms. We love to capture life as it happens and to document your love stories, which include tales of you and your pup! The natural smiles and laughs only add to the excitement of the day, and having special pictures with you and your pup will be a treasure for years to come.
3. What tips do you have for owners to get that “pawfect” shot?
Bring a friend! Use the other pet lovers in your life to help you be extra hands for your pet. Your pup will be so excited to see you and with the high energy of your special day, they may be more excitable than normal! Having someone dedicated to helping you keep your pup focused will go along way. And, treats! With all of the noises and people and fun, your dog will likely be very distracted. Have a toy or treats available so your photographer can make sure your favorite pictures include your dog looking at the camera.
4. What are some great poses you’ve seen with couples and their dog(s)?
This always depends on the size of your pup. If you have a larger breed dog, like a Golden Retriever, you have more posing options. You can sit next to your pup, like on a bench or chair, or crouch down to be eye-level with your dog. This makes your images look more personable and less formal than your traditional standing photos. For smaller dogs, snuggle them close! This creates intimate photos with you and your favorite fur baby. Just be sure to have your designated friend clean their paws before you hold them so you don’t get dirty in your beautiful wedding day attire!
5. Are there any must have shots that the couple should get with their fur baby?
Don’t be afraid to get down and play with your pup! Your pet is so excited to see you, use that energy! As photographers, we love the real, natural laughs that you get when people are with their loved ones and are truly happy. That’s why we love having pets in our weddings and engagement sessions! Give your pet some love and affection and it’s sure to come across great in photos!
We hoped you loved that blog post! If you did and you have pets, don’t forget to include them in photos. Especially wedding days and engagement sessions!
