A Romantic DC Wedding at The InterContinental at The Wharf
Alex & Mitch | Washington, DC Wedding
Alex and Mitch’s wedding day at The InterContinental at The Wharf in Washington, DC was one of those rare, radiant fall days where everything feels soft, joyful, and full of possibility. From sentimental details laid out on a floral backdrop to a windswept rooftop first look overlooking the Potomac, this wedding was the perfect blend of heartfelt moments and modern DC elegance.
Alex’s bridal details were a dream to photograph—lace heels, an ethereal textured gown, meaningful jewelry, and their elegant invitation suite adorned with soft florals and a custom wax seal. Her rings (wait until you scroll!) were absolutely stunning and looked magical nestled inside creamy white blooms. Every detail spoke to a wedding day that was timeless, romantic, and thoughtfully curated.
One of our favorite moments of the day was Alex and Mitch’s first look on the InterContinental’s rooftop. With sweeping views of the river, the Washington Monument peeking through the skyline, and the most gentle light, they saw each other for the first time—and Mitch’s reaction said it all. Pure joy. Pure awe.
They held hands, laughed, breathed each other in, and soaked up the moment with the city stretched out behind them. It was quiet, sweet, and absolutely breathtaking.
After their first look, we took full advantage of the InterContinental’s iconic waterfront location. Between the marina, cobblestone walks, modern architecture, and that gorgeous fountain scene, their portraits feel straight out of a magazine.
Alex looked radiant in her structured, romantic ballgown—floating across the boardwalk with her bouquet of blush, mauve, and ivory florals. Mitch, in a sharp black tux and deep green bowtie, looked equally incredible. Together? A perfect pair.
Their wedding party brought the energy! The bridesmaids’ mix-and-match green gowns popped beautifully against the DC backdrop, and the whole crew rocked the steps of their church like pros. These photos are FILLED with joy.
Two little showstoppers almost stole the show—the adorable flower girls, twirling in white dresses with oversized bows. Walking hand-in-hand by the marina, they looked like a scene from a storybook. Their pearl-handled flower basket made for the most precious detail shot!
The ceremony took place at a stunning, historic DC church with soaring doors and a grand staircase—truly a regal setting. Alex and Mitch exchanged vows surrounded by loved ones, and the energy pouring out of the church afterward was electric. Lots of cheers, lots of confetti vibes (even without confetti!).
We wrapped up portraits back at The Wharf with the prettiest afternoon glow. Alex’s bridal portraits in front of the fountain are some of our absolute FAVORITES—her joy, her laugh, her glow… it’s impossible not to smile looking at those images.
When we wrapped up, we sent our newlyweds into their cocktail hour. The guests cheered and applauded as they entered the room! Guests enjoyed cocktail hour and enjoyed the outdoor views. The clouds were dramatic, the light was dreamy, and everyone smiling, ready to party and watch the lovebirds have the best night ever!
Walking into their reception felt like stepping into a warm, glowing garden. Soft florals in blush and ivory danced between tall glass candles, and the tables sparkled with gold accents and delicate buds in tiny vases. It all felt intimate, romantic, and perfectly “Alex & Mitch.”
The joy on their faces as they entered their reception says everything—these two were ready to celebrate! Everyone danced, and danced until the end! We loved watching them live their best life!
Alex and Mitch, photographing your wedding day was such an incredible honor. Your energy is contagious, your love is effortless, and the way your families and friends celebrated you was beautiful to witness. We loved every moment—from rooftop giggles to waterfront portraits to candlelit reception magic.
Congratulations, you two! Here’s to a lifetime of laughter, partnership, dance-floor energy, and years of joy ahead.
We adore you both!
