When you think of pearls, you think expensive, you think jewelry, maybe the ocean, oysters, classy women, or many think of wedding days and brides. I don’t think babies came to your mind but even babies love and look great in pearls.

Babies are the sweetest thing. But so are those moments when you stop doing “routine” and do something out of the blue, something that you love that you haven’t done in a while.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the world around me, it’s noises and it’s sounds. The sounds of kids laughing, babies murmuring, followed by parents smiling.  I’ve been thinking a lot about things that I love, and what I’ve loved over time. It’s kind of funny actually how things change over time.

When I was a little girl I loved “spin-around dresses.” Does anyone remember Bibelot the bookstore? I would ask my mom if we could go there all the time. I remember in the summertime being with friends. Digipets and Pokemon cards… I liked both, but not for the game but because of the creative characters and the halographic on the cards, and the idea of a digital friend (mine always died cause I forgot to feed it). I wonder where those things are haha. I used to make homemade cards… I still do time to time. I used to play the guitar and write music when I was in college… I haven’t touched my guitar in 3 years, except to move it to a different room.

Life goes too fast. So I’m trying to slow it down and here’s how.

I’ve decided there are nights where I don’t need to do anything more for my job, I need to not do anything for anyone else or answer my phone. Instead I need to do something that I love. Tonight, it’s writing this post. Yesterday, it was gardening (I don’t know how to keep anything alive… so I’m learning and trying). The day before it was editing wedding pictures for a bride and groom.

Tomorrow, on April 2nd, I will have been married 5 months to my beloved. WHAT!? Time has flown! Here’s the bottom line.. Don’t wake up wishing you did something that you could actually do if you just decided.

Slow down. Find the “sweetest thing” and go do it and spend time.

  1. I am here in Ecuador and I am learning a new way of life. I am learning to slow down and actually smell all the roses. I love you and I love your heart. I believe in you and in all that you are becoming. You are my sister and my friend. Keep learning, keep living and save some time for me in may after you have been married 6 months (and I am back in the country) for tea and biscuits. I wanna hear all about my Maggie! (Sorry Patrick…but I get her one evening…haha)
